Hello readers, today I would like to begin with a quote of Mother Terrace
“Hunger for Love is much more difficult to remove than Hunger for Bread”
It was difficult for me to understand this as my logical mind always believe that it can’t be true, no one can die in the absence of love.
But as I started observing everything and everyone more deeply I get my answer. Yes, it is true that one will not die in the absence of love but he will be a living dead in the absence of love.
To make it more clear I am going to tell you a story. Hope through this story we all understand how important LOVE is.
“HAPPY READING”
It was the first day of my research when I first saw her. She was a looking weak but not looking like other people whom medical science refers mad. She was not too old may be a few years older than me.
In that age life just begin for others but for her life lost all meanings and she was passing it in this mental asylum.
In my research career I never take any one as a subject, they all become a part of my life and she was the first one. One who helps me to learn that life and love has a deep connection and as a human we all are blessed with magic. Magic, which can light up anyone’s life.
When I first met her she didn’t even notice my presence. I tried to talk to her but she didn’t show any interest. I want to know her, I asked the doctor they just said that she is suffering from severe depression. I want to know more about her but no one except her can tell me.
She spent her whole day looking out from the window to the flowers. I thought she liked the flowers so one day I brought a few of them to her. When she saw those flowers she had weird expression on her face, that for a moment scared me. But after few second she had tears in her eyes.
I said, “ I am sorry. I just feel that you will be happy if I give you these flower I thought you like them.”
She said silently, “ No, I love them.”
“ Then why these tears.”
She said, “ You know what is the difference between like and love. If you like a flower you will pluck it but if you love a flower then you will water it.”
I was speechless.
She said further, “ That’s the problem in today’s world. People like you, use you and then throw you just like a piece of waste paper. One of life’s struggle is to be likable but the truth is we should try to be more lovable & loving.”
I have no words to say how deeply she thinks and feel. I want to know why a girl like her spending her life in that place. After that day, I visit her regularly and talked to her. She was not at all a psycho. With time she opened her heart and tell me everything.
She was an unwanted child. Her father never loved her. He always said that she reminds him his mistake. Due to this she always hungers for love. And that hunger takes her into wrong places. She got into drugs, people or say her so-called friends take advantage of her. She got pregnant at age of 17, gave birth to a dead child, married to an alcoholic who was just interested in her body. She was living a life where no one bothers that she even exist.
In her words I had everything, looks, health, money, status but still I was the poor girl in the world.
Her words remind me what Mother Rerrace said once, “ Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody I think that is a much greater hunger a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat.”
We both start sharing a deep bond. I learned many things from her she was very intelligent and a very good observer. She was getting better and better with each day. I gifted her a sketchbook and colors she was too good at sketching. Doctors were also amazed by her improvement.
The time soon came when she discharged. At that day she was looking beautiful. She had tears in her eyes and a smile on her face. She hugged me tightly I can feel her happiness.
On my last birthday I get a letter with a gift from her. In her letter she wrote:
My dearest friend,
Wish you a very happy birthday, may God bless you with all good things of this world. Life becomes changed so much since I met you. You are God’s blessing to me. You know what every human wants. Human beings want to feel that they mattered. I was just like others want the same thing – someone to notice I am there I exist. You gave me that feeling.
I always heard from others that we are independent and we should try to become but I feel this statement is fake. I believe we all are dependent and we want to be dependent on someone. Someone who wants us, someone who need us, someone who care and the most important someone who shows that we matter in their life.
You glad to know that I am working as an art teacher to mentally challenged kids. Those kids are not able to differentiate between right or wrong but they can differentiate between love and hate. They are giving out what they most want to come back – LOVE. They are full of love and now I am no longer a hunger soul who wants love as I find love in me and in everyone and everywhere.
My motto is live with no excuse and love with no regrets.
